Ivan Perisic transfer latest: Man Utd unlikely to rival Arsenal for Inter Milan star

Man Utd look set to give Arsenal a free run at Ivan Perisic.

Old Trafford’s hierarchy have been aware of the Inter Milan winger’s availability for weeks – but have so far shown little interest in resurrecting their pursuit of a player Jose Mourinho desperate to bring to the club.

United made moves for the Croatian in each of the past two summer transfer windows – but refused to meet Inter’s valuation on either occasion.

Perisic has now handed in a transfer request and Standard Sport understands that Arsenal are hopeful of securing a deal for the Croatian.

Solskjaer does not expect to make any major signings during the January window, with United accepting top target Kalidou Koulibaly may not be available until the summer.

The Norwegian has also solved United’s problem position on the right of attack, with Jesse Lingard excelling in that role.

Solskjaer is more likely to have to deal with outgoings, rather than incomings, with Matteo Darmian potentially returning to Italy amid interest from Juventus and Inter.

But Andreas Perreira will not be allowed to leave, with Solskjaer insisting the Brazilian is part of his plans.

“Andreas has done fantastic in training ever since I come back,” said the interim manager. “He’s a player I can see playing quite a few games for us towards the end of the season.

“At the moment I can see everyone staying at the club. No deals have been done with anyone, but there are still a few more days.

“I’m not too involved in the negotiations so whatever happens, happens, but it’ll be good to get the window closed an improving the players in the squad still here.”
