ITV2 Love Island fans back new couple after awkward exchange

Love Island fans are backing a new couple following a very awkward beginning.

It seems that a lot of viewers are backing Tommy Fury, 20, and new girl Maura Higgins from Ireland, 28 - even though he is coupled up with Molly-Mae.

Maura strutted into the villa on Wednesday evening and took three of the boys on a date.

She immediately took a shine to Tommy and he said his head had been turned 560 degrees.

Molly-Mae hit the roof and exploded at Tommy, despite her being confused over who she was into as she tried to get to know Anton and Danny.

While the boys went on a spa day, Amber asked Maura about the situation. Molly-Mae joined the conversation, but it was clear there was no love lost and Maura did not really care about approaching Molly-Mae about Tommy.

Maura said in the Beach Hut: "I don’t need to ask Molly-Mae’s permission to crack on with Tommy Fury. Is she joking?"

And it seems as though she has the blessing of the fans.

Taking to Twitter one said: "I love Maura!!! Omg is it too early to say I want her and tommy to couple up and win the whole thing."

Another said: "Maura is boxing Tommy into a corner. Awesome."

Another said: "Tommy and Maura are the couple we deserve!!!"

But others though Maura was playing the long game: "Maura is such a smooth game player, she’s gotten Tommy’s attention just by flirting with him in a day, he’s definitely going to couple up with her but I’m 100% sure she’s not gonna give him anything, she’s playing her cards right! Poor Tommy."

Another said: "You can just tell if Maura and Tommy were to couple up they wouldn’t last long cos it’s purely based on sexual tension."

But things might not go as smoothly as some viewers would want as Maura tried to tempt Tommy with a goodnight kiss, but he completely swerved it, turning his face away.

He had opted to sleep on the sofa, but after Molly-Mae asked him why, he later crept back into the bedroom and back into bed with her.

Tonight's episode then ended on a cliff hanger as Molly-Mae asked for a chat with Maura - what will she say to her?
