ITV Vera fans left in the dark over release of future episodes

Fans of the ITV show Vera are in for a long wait before they can see the final two episodes of the current series, the stars of the show have confirmed.

The eleventh series of Vera began to air at the end of August 2021, with the second episode coming in early September. The show then took a break and returned with another two episodes in January 2022.

Since this, however, no information on the release dates for episodes five and six have been revealed, and it's likely to remain that way for a while - creating plenty of upset from the show's fans. They reacted with anger after they were treated to just a couple of episodes of Vera before being replaced on schedules once again, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Speaking on Monday's This Morning, Holly Willoughby was speaking with lead actress Brenda Blethyn, saying: “We’ve got two more episodes of the current series of Vera, We’ve got episodes one, two, three and four."

Brenda then replied “Yes, they are out now. There will be another one with five and six at some point."

Fans were crushed when episodes five and six were removed from ITV's schedules back in January, being replaced by Trigger Point. One Twitter user wrote at the time: "As much as I'm looking forward to #TriggerPoint I would rather more #Vera actually @ITV."

Another said: "Dare I ask is that the last night of the series? @VeraSeries #hopenot #Vera."

Ibinabo Jack has also shared some details on axed scenes from the show ahead of the series finale, with the Vera star explaining why some of the scenes were left on the cutting room floor.

Speaking to the Daily Express, she shared: “There are so many things that happen that don't make the final because we couldn't keep it together or certain shots that just looked funny. Kenny had to do a thing of pretending to walk down a flight of stairs. The stairs didn't exist, so we had to fake that he was going down the stairs and on set it looked ridiculous, but brilliant when we watched the episode back.”
