ITV's Unforgotten has returned for its fifth series, which is now well underway.
Sinéad Keenan has joined the cast as DCI Jess James, alongside BAFTA-nominated Sanjeev Bhaskar, who has played DI Sunil "Sunny" Khan in all four previous series of the hugely successful cold case murder programme.
Nicola Walker previously played Sunny's partner, Cassie, but in a huge twist at the end of the fourth series, Cassie was killed in a hit-and-run. The season ended with Sunny visiting Cassie's grave.

At the time, ITV said: "We would like to thank Nicola Walker for playing the brilliant role of Cassie Stuart in four series of Unforgotten which has become one of the best-loved and most critically acclaimed police dramas on TV. Nicola and writer Chris Lang decided that Cassie's story would come to an end last night, but that Unforgotten would continue, in series five, with a new case, and a new 'Partner in Crime' for DI Sunny Khan."
DCI Jess stated in the first episode of series five that she had "huge shoes to fill", but she has clearly won long-term fans of the show over. And as the plot thickens, we take a look at actress Sinéad Keenan's real life, including her soap star husband and a connection to the city of Liverpool.
Sinéad is married to film and TV director Chris McGill, and the pair share two sons. Chris is best known for directing EastEnders, as well as a number of films.
In 2017, Sinéad played Rhys Jones' mum Melanie Jones in Little Boy Blue, an ITV drama based on the schoolboy's devastating murder. At the time, Sinead said: "There is always a certain amount of trepidation when you are asked to play a real person who is still alive. It was a bit daunting.
"You have to be very respectful of the fact this is somebody’s life and their very worst and darkest moments. You just hope to God you get it right for them."
Speaking of the city, she said: “I’d never been to Liverpool before filming this. It reminds me of Dublin. It reminds me of home. I don’t know whether it’s the Irishness of Liverpool but there is very much that sense of, ‘You stick together.’ That whole ‘Liverpool United’ thing was very moving."
