ITV Trigger Point viewers work out 'set up' as they pinpoint ring leader for 'revenge'

Trigger Point viewers were back with more theories as they tuned in to the penultimate episode of the series.

The ITV drama's fifth episode out of six aired on Sunday night as the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad faced more life-threatening challenges during a summer bombing campaign.

The team of officers have spent weeks trying to figure out who is the main culprit behind the crusaders.

Bu things have become even more personal for explosives officer Lana Washington after her brother was shockingly killed in a blast at the end of episode four.

And here's your SPOILER ALERT warning as we dive into Sunday night's show.

The episode saw Lana, aka 'Wash', still reeling from the tragic death of her brother and viewers saw her drinking and dancing around alone in her home.

But after discovering there was a main culprit for the attacks, Lana was determined to return to work and she had no time to waste as there were reports of a suspicious item at a university building where a radio show was being recorded.

After having a run-in with colleague John Hudson and accusing him of grooming Billy before his death, Lana decided to keep him close and the pair headed off into the building.

The pair found a device with a timer and two phones attached.

Lana instructed John to go outside and inform their colleagues to stay alert to anyone who may be carrying two phones.

John at first refused but Lana put her foot down and carried on getting things ready to disrupt the bomb.

With the suspect shot, Lana thought she had more time - until one of the phones began to ring.

And it just so happened to ring at the same time John used his phone.

As Lana came running out of the building to take cover, John did a runner and it was later discovered that he was involved in the group.

After looking at copies of his 'A-Z London' guide they discovered the next target - a campaign headquarters of the progressive alliance.

Fans are suspicious of DI Thom Youngblood (ITV)

But taking to social media, Trigger Point viewers think John was actually set-up and that they still haven't found the ringleader.

@HardTruth6 tweeted: "#TriggerPoint looks more like John Hudson was set up and then run off in a panic."

"No, surely it can’t be that obvious. John walks out, phone pinging away, makes a call (in front of everyone), massive explosion, John runs off like he’s off on a cross country. Not having it, it’s a ploy. #TriggerPoint," @laura_alice24 commented.

@smnhndmch said: "I think John has been set up as the fall guy, Karl is too suspicious. #TriggerPoint."

"John is definitely involved but he's definitely not the leader, that falls to Karl or Tom or both #triggerpoint," @Haleb_4_ever echoed.

@Dorina335 added: "Is John being set up? For some reason I'm not trusting Karl...and I don't know why he isn't working. #TriggerPoint."

And fans are pretty confident on it being Lana's fling Karl or DI Thom Youngblood.

@maccbird said: "Too obvious if it’s John??? I’m not trusting this theory!! My money is on Karl or Youngblood (if that’s his name lol)#TriggerPoint."

"I don't think John Hudson's in on it, I reckon he's under cover...both of Lana's boyfriends giving off serious dodgy vibes...it's got to be one of them #TriggerPoint," @salsaysonchica tweeted.

@politicaIicious theorised: "Karl's the gang ringleader, for sure. #TriggerPoint Knew from the moment, at the funeral, during Episode 1, when he claimed to fail to get into Expo Team after leaving the Armed Forces. Envy and revenge."
