ITV to air Christmas Day editions of Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and This Morning for first time

There will be a huge change to ITV's schedule on Christmas Day when the channel gives three of its most famous morning shows airtime on December 25 for the first time ever.

Millions of people wake up to them every day and this year viewers will be able to watch Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and This Morning while they're unwrapping their presents or prepping the dinner on Christmas morning after ITV confirmed plans to screen special episodes next month.

Kevin Lygo, ITV's Director of Television, confirmed the programmes would air on December 25 during an online presentation about the channel's festive TV schedule for this year.

He said: "In a festive first, we will be showing one-off specials of our hit daytime shows on Christmas day itself."

Reacting to the news, This Morning host Phillip Schofield added: "What an absolute honour to be in people’s living rooms on Christmas Day.

"We have never done this before, so to be part of another ‘first’ for the show is extra exciting for us.

"This special two hour show will have plenty for the whole family to enjoy throughout the morning... and I’m sure Holly and I will get to enjoy a festive tipple too!”

Christmas Day will get going at 7am on ITV when Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid will host a special episode celebrating the heroes of 2020 before Lorraine Kelly takes the reins for a festive special of her show and Phillip and Holly take viewers up to lunchtime with a Christmas This Morning.
