Tipping Point fans were in hysterics after a contestant's answer on today's episode.

Ben Shephard welcomed four new quizzers on Monday's edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Viewers were baffled following Beth's quick response in the second round of the programme.

The host asked: "Which large striped member of the cat family features in Henri Rousseau's 1891 painting, Surprised?"

The correct answer was tiger, and fans on Twitter were in stitches when the letting agent from Chorley leapt in to suggest it was a "zebra".

@Samanth22356123 said: "Stripy cat…. Zebra??!!!"

@MissMarrple added: "Sorry, what? A zebra is part of the big cat family?"

@Adderladders commented : "OMG She said Zebra! But for a member of the cat not equine family!"

Dario tweeted: "After the zebra answer Beth should be asked to leave"

@Mikeybhoy joked: "Tony the zebra"

Michelle said: ""Cat family" - Zebra"

However, Beth recovered from her gaffe to put in a fantastic performance and defeated the other contestants after building up an impressive £2,450.

Beth competed on Tipping Point to raise money for a holiday with her boyfriend and eventually left with £3,300.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV and ITV Hub
