ITV Tipping Point contestant's Hollyoaks remark leaves viewers baffled

Tipping Point fans were baffled after a contestant's Hollyoaks gaffe on today's programme.

Host Ben Shephard welcomed four new quizzers on Friday's edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Ghaliya, Seb, Paula and Douglas were competing against one another in a bid to win the £10,000 jackpot.

Ghaliya surged into the lead after an impressive first round performance where she banked £600.

The banker from Oxford decided to go first in the second round as a double counter was looming dangerously close to the tipping point on the arcade style machine.

The host issued the quizzer with a range of quick-fire questions to see how many counters she could build up to drop into the machine.

However, viewers on Twitter were in stitches after a question on the world of soaps.

Ben asked: "In 2020, British singer Mica Paris joined the cast of which long-running BBC soap?"

Ghaliya leapt in with Hollyoaks, but the correct answer was EastEnders and viewers on Twitter all made the same point about how the Cheshire based soap airs on Channel 4.

Phil said, alongside laughing emojis: "In 2020 British singer Mica Paris joined the cast of which long running BBC soap opera?" Ghaliya "Hollyoaks" Shephard "Eastenders"

Steve added: "Yes, Ghaliya, I tune into BBC One to watch"

David posted: "Hollyoaks has moved to the BBC?"

@MissLionHeart joked: "Parsnips is a starchy vegetable, Hollyoaks is a BBC soap, Moses is a musical number in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Alfred Nobel invented the telephone"

Ghaliya eventually built up 2 counters but was unable to add anything to her haul.

She eventually progressed to the final head-to-head, but was defeated by Paula who eventually left the show with £3,300.
