ITV This Morning viewers slam Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for interrupting live interview

This Morning viewers slammed presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield when they interrupted a live interview for President Trump.

The hosts had been speaking with singer and former Glee actor Max George as he embarks on relaunching his music career.

But just as he was talking about how American star Jason Derulo had mentored him back into singing, Phil cut in.

"Oh, president Trump has just arrived at Downing Street..."

The screen went to live footage of Trump arriving outside Number 10, confusing Max, and leaving Holly to explain they had just switched to coverage in London.

Phil promised him they would get back to him in a minute, but thought it was interesting to see Trump's arrival.

Viewers watched as Trump and his wife, Melania, met PM Theresa May and her husband, Philip, in front of the press pack.

But some took issue with the interruption, saying it was rude.

One tweeted: "Verrrry rude interrupting Max's interview I think."

Another said: "Do you mind interrupting @MaxGeorge For that big orange idiot?"

A third added: "Bit rude of them to interrupt a segment to show Trump arrive... no one cares."

Max didn't seem to mind, making a joke about having the same car as Trump.

He had previously told Holly and Phil that fame had not been exactly what he had hoped, he had been treated for anxiety following the success of boyband The Wanted.

He said: "The weeks after [their first single] I found it a bit strange, there were always people outside your door, it wasn't exactly what I expected."

Phil also asked him about the messages he and the Duchess of Sussex were supposed to have exchanged before she met Harry.

Phil asked: "You were messaging Meghan?"

Max firmly said: "I wasn't."

Phil joked: "You sounded like you were answering your dad then."

Max, laughing added: "I did, it feels like that. I don't know why they [parts of the press] are doing this to her at the moment.

"I haven't [been texting her]... there wasn't, there was nothing in it."
