ITV This Morning viewers hit out at 'rude' Phillip Schofield as he loses cool and shouts at caller

Phillip Schofield may need to develop the patience of a saint when it comes to This Morning's game, Spin To Win. Ever since its inception in 2020, the wheel-based game has caused some dramas in the ITV daytime show's studio.

It usually sees a lucky winner bag up to £3000, however, there has been a change up to the game this week with prizes also including a set tour of Coronation Street and the chance to see Ninja Warrior being filmed among other cash prizes.

Viewers have come to know exactly how the game works, if they enter and receive a phone call from an anonymous number they need to pick it up and say the passphrase. If they say hello, they've lost their chance at spinning the prize wheel or getting one of the hosts' to pick out a tombola ball.

But it can often get a bit fraught when the callers repeatedly get the phrase wrong. On Wednesday's show (May 11), however, viewer Bob correctly answered the phone and as Rochelle Humes asked: "Who is it?" the line went dead with Phillip repeatedly asking: "Bob?"

The viewer had ended up putting it down on Phillip and his co-host Rochelle, who has been filling in for Holly Willoughby this week while she hosts ITV's The Games. They ended up having to call him back, which didn't go down well as they were pushed for time and needed to chat to former Pointless and House of Games host Richard Osman who they were hoping to impress with their money-winning game.

This time, however, a lady answered the phone and after hearing Phillip, 60, say: "Bob? Bob?" she repeated the passphrase. "Yes I know that," Phillip said trying to press on. "Turn the telly down," he added as the female voice carried on repeating the code she needed to be able to play the game.

The game started well (ITV)

"Turn the telly down," Phillip screeched as Rochelle, 33, put her hands to her head. But Phil really lost it when she said it once more. Walking to the back of the studio, he turned back round and screamed: "Turn the TV down."

They eventually got back on the phone to Bob and he successfully played the game but This Morning viewers were left seriously unimpressed by Phillip's behaviour."

@ChantelO26 tweeted: "[Phillip] should think before yelling at people on spin to win. They might be elderly. disabled or a little deaf. Here’s an idea put the ‘guest on first’ #ThisMorning Rude!"

"@thismorning Phillip Schofield has to be the rudest man on TV. How off was he with Bob on Spin to Win. Time he was replaced by Craig! A lovely man and a good presenter. #ThisMorning," @EvelynPlummer13 fumed.

But things soon went down hill (ITV)

@Mickilodium60 complained: "Phil was so rude at the competition, felt embarrassed for Bob. Does he not realise people may have hearing impairments or they are elderly and slower to respond. Rochelle not much better. Absolutely disgusted. #ThisMorning."

But luckily others were loving Bob on the show. @LelJoyce tweeted: "Bob’s the most entertainment we’ve had from Spin To Win #ThisMorning."

"That was brilliant. Bravo Bob #ThisMorning," @JayHBaker94 shared as @Queen_Vix88 That was funny b***dy hell Bob #ThisMorning."
