Donna Air appeared on the This Morning sofa to speak about her return to acting tonight, but viewers were left confused when she spoke.
The former child star is set to appear in the second series of The Split, which starts on BBC1 this evening.
Donna, 40, chatted to Holly and Phil about how much she had enjoyed returning to her acting roots and her plans for more shows and projects in the future.
But as she talked away on the sofa, This Morning viewers were left very confused as to where her previously strong Geordie accent had gone.
Donna appeared in Byker Grove when she was growing up and had a very distinctive accent.
But today she spoke with only a hint of the North East left.
And hundreds of people took to Twitter to ask where her accent had disappeared to, with some suggesting she'd had elocution lessons.
Ruth Tedstone-Woods said: "What’s happened to Donna Air’s accent?! Why you no longer Geordie?! I don’t even know where that accent is from."
soapsyandsudsey said: "Donna Air must've had intensive elocution lessons. I remember her with a thick Geordie accent."
Erbs said: "Where’s her Geordie accent gone ? @thismorning Donna Air!!! #Thismorning you’re a Northerner stop faking that pathetic accent."
And Christopher Whelan said: "What is up with Donna Airs accent?? Isn’t she a Geordie?"
