ITV This Morning viewers 'can't cope' as Alison and Dermot are joined by two special guests

This Morning fans said they 'couldn't cope' when two special guests appeared on the show.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were back on the ITV daytime programme on Monday.

The usual Friday hosts are filling in this week as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy their first half-term break of the year.

And as Alison and Dermot celebrated Valentine's Day, there was a couple in the studio - but not of the human kind.

The This Morning duo welcomed Ferrari and Pringle, two Humboldt penguins, into the ITV studio.

The pair were accompanied into the studio by the show's resident vet Dr Scott Miller and Whitney Houston's hit track I Will Always Love You played out in honour of the penguin couple.

"They are the real life lovebirds," Alison, 47, said and it's true as the penguins even 'got married' in 2020.

But Dr Scott explained their love story almost didn't happen.

"Ferrari is the shorter one and Pringle is the taller one," he said.

"Ferrari was actually with his previous partner, called Charlie, who is also a male.

"Charlie then decided that he preferred female penguins, and then joined up with a female penguin."

Dr Scott went on to explain how Charlie and his new female partner could not have a baby of their own, so they adopted an egg.

"That egg hatched in the form of Pringle,' he revealed.

"And then when Pringle came of age, Pringle then decided he was gonna get with his father's ex." - What a scandal!

But the penguins' appearance on the show was loved by viewers.

"OMG! The lived up penguins are so cute. I love penguins so much! #ThisMorning," @Leelamou said.

@corriedalexo commented: "Omg the PENGUINS #ThisMorning."

"Awww those penguins hahaha #thismorning," @Itt39354118 added.

@DavidMackayy even suggested: "Petition for the penguins to host This Morning instead of Alison and Dermot #thismorning."

And @clsyoshimoo echoed: "Can we get the penguins to host all week #thismorning."
