ITV This Morning viewers brand cancellation 'ridiculous' after Holly and Phillip confirm how long show will be off air

This Morning fans have been left wondering what they're supposed to do as the show didn't appear on their screens on Tuesday (November 22). Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were nowhere to be seen due to the ITV daytime programme being cancelled.

But they're not alone as Lorraine Kelly's self-titled show and Loose Women have also been taken off air to make way for coverage of the World Cup in Qatar. Holly and Phillip confirmed their absence on Monday's show (November 21), saying that viewers won't be seeing them again until next week.

While This Morning will actually be back for just one more day this week on Friday (November 25), it won't be the presenting duo at the helm. "Right, the World Cup is on ITV for the next few mornings so Alison and Dermot will be with you on Friday, we will see you next week," Phillip confirmed as they closed their first, and last, show of the week yesterday.

Holly added: "All that's left to say is good luck England, good luck Wales and we'll see you next week." Following their announcement, This Morning viewers flocked to social media. @Mabel_Mouse_ fumed: "Are they taking the f*****g p**s? No telly all week because of the football? Put it on ITV2 fgs #ThisMorning."

@FlopsyPickle complained: "Wait there’s no This Morning now? Pissing football, I hate it and I hate that it’s now impacting my very important routine, I don’t like change #ThisMorning."

And the disapointment only continued on Tuesday morning when the football replaced the usual episode of This Morning. @Auntie_Dan tweeted: "What am I going to do without my #ThisMorning people. Have a great day everyone." @onlysmols wrote: "Just turned on ITV for #ThisMorning and it's football," alongside a string of crying emojis.

@surayyamakda said: "Missing @thismorning already!! #ThisMorning." @Itt39354118 posted: "Why dont they put the fooball on another channel there's plenty of them this is bloody ridiculous #thismorning." @BetLynchsFag added: "Errr, excuse me @ITV but where is #ThisMorning please? There's some sport related thing on, couldn't you bang that on ITV2? How am I supposed to win 'Spin to win' now?"

Holly, however, did show up for work. But it wasn't as it seemed. The 41-year-old TV star took to Instagram with another of her pre-This Morning outfit posts despite viewers not seeing her on-screen. On Tuesday, she could be seen backstage in her dressing room at dressed as if she were about to head into the studio and present the show as usual alongside Phillip.

She looked gorgeous in a black velvet dress which boasted exaggerated sleeves and a lace panel on the front with matching black bows. She also popped on a pair of tights and added a classic black pointed heel to her look. Holly's blonde locks also draped over her left shoulder having been styled into soft waves. "Good morning… " she started the caption of her post before explaining: "@thismorning is not on your screens today but we are filming some festive fun for a later show! #hwstyle."
