ITV This Morning viewers and Holly Willoughby defensive amid outrage over 'Halloween tat segment'

This Morning fans have shared their annoyance over what they branded a 'tat segment' - but not everybody agreed. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Tuesday (October 11) and were continuing their Halloween theme.

They were joined live in the studio by Steve Wilson who was on hand to help Halloween fans get their homes ready for the most spooktacular day of the year in just a few weeks time. Taking up a corner of the studio, Steve filled it with the best gruesome garden Halloween decorations on the market.

Among them was a Winged Reaper, which makes noise and moves, from Aldi which would set viewers back £59.99 while there was also a LED Inflatable Pumpkin Ghost for £40 from Wilko.

The hosts and Steve appeared to have a great time going through the items with plenty of Halloween-theme jokes from the trio.

However, it appears the segment didn't go down well with viewers. @mdbaggy tweeted: "I'm not sure whats worse, the tat, the prices or the jokes #ThisMorning." @Boppity_Boo34 wrote: "Oh look more overpriced halloween tat #ThisMorning."

@lisab28782 complained: "#thismorning no one can afford to spend on Halloween tat! £40 for an inflatable pumpkin?! I mean seriously." But @Shelley_Bxx argued in response: "Lots of people can afford it and will [buy] the tat."

@shrimpsy291 posted: "Don’t show all Halloween stuff due to current climate, where’s all the Halloween stuff as it’s traditional? Can’t win #ThisMorning." @yatesdates added: "God some people are miserable. I can’t afford the Halloween decorations but I can enjoy watching the segment. No one is forcing anyone to watch. #ThisMorning."

Holly also commented in defence of the prices. "They do last a long time," she said as she gestured towards the inflatable pumpkin. "I know they're like £40 but as I was saying, I've got one of these and I've had it for about four years and I wheel it out every Halloween and it looks brand new and it's perfect."

The latest Halloween segment comes after Holly and Phillip welcomed a real-life Addams Family onto the show. During Monday's edition of the popular programme, parents JP Kenny and Kymmi Jeffrey and their two daughters Snow, 9 and Pebble, 6 joined the hosts on the famous sofa after making their way into the studio in their family hearse.

After developing a love for the supernatural, the couple, who met just over two years ago, like to spend their spare time hunting for ghosts and attempting to speak with spirits earning them the label of 'the real life Addams Family'.

The pair, who live in Cheshire, met whilst working in a school together and bonded over their shared love of the spooky side of life and 24 months on, they now own their own business called 'The Occult Hauntings' where they offer ghost hunting tours to groups.

The family, who proudly go about Manchester dressed like the Addams family, caused a divide among viewers but many This Morning fans jumped to their defence. One said: “I love people like this… let them do what they want to do.” Another agreed: "It’s their business and kids seem happy." A third added: "Do the children look scared and upset? No. Stop judging!"
