ITV This Morning's Phillip Schofield slams couple addicted to tanning injections

Phillip Schofield slammed a couple addicted to tanning injections on This Morning today - telling them they should stop immediately.

Hannah Tittensor and her boyfriend Ben from Belfast appeared on the show to talk about how much they loved being tanned - and the extreme measures they were willing to pursue.

Ben said he was 15 when he started doing sunbeds and Hannah admitted she had been into self tanning products since she was a teenager.

When the pair met at 17 their tanning obsession grew, as they started to do sunbeds two to three times a week.

Hannah, 22, said: "One day my brother came home and he was a a different colour, Ben thought flip I want to try them.

"I didn't try them until about a year after and the first time I tried them I felt quite sick."

Ben also ended up in hospital with an abscess after using an injection he got online.

After hearing their stories Phil strongly issued the advice from the NHS.

He said: "The NHS say anyone injecting melanotan should stop doing so immediately for their own safety, the drug has not been tested.

"How does that make you feel - you should stop this immediately."

The couple appeared shocked and Hannah said: "I wasn't aware of that at all, I think I would be able to stop, possibly soon it's time to stop.

But Ben didn't seem as bothered, saying: "I might stop one day, but I just love being tanned, we worry about cancer, but there's people out there smoking 40 cigarettes a day. "

Viewers were also not impressed with the couple's attitude.

One said: "I used tanning injections about ten years ago and it does work , I went so dark but the side effects were awful. I had to take them before I went to sleep otherwise I’d vomit. I also developed moles so I stopped. Young & stupid"

Another said: "Good grief. Why would such a bonny girl do this? I know taste is a personal thing, but this is not a good look at all."

And a third said: "Tanning injections are bad enough but using sunbeds too! Eesh! Idiots."
