ITV This Morning's Phillip Schofield quizzes Piers Morgan about Donald Trump interview

Phillip Schofield quizzed Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan about his interview with US president Donald Trump.

ITV broadcast Piers' , but Phil asked him if he had 'gone soft' on the controversial leader.

Speaking on the This Morning sofa, Piers fired back: "I think if you watch the whole interview, there are parts were I am soft and parts when you can be quite tough on him."

Explaining his interview style further, Piers said he didn't want to be rude or bombastic because it would have only lasted three minutes.

Piers said he considers the president a friend (ITV)

He also said how he only knew he had the interview on Sunday after being informed by the Secret Service.

Piers says he and the president have been friends ever since he appeared on the US version of The Apprentice, and the pair have often exchanged messages, Piers said he found it surreal that he thinks of the president as a friend.

He also commented on how Trump has carried himself during his trip to the UK, adding that he learning to embrace the British values of politeness and civility.

Phil joked: "When will you do that?"

During the US President's only sit-down interview with the UK media, he spoke about everything from gun control and transgender military personnel to the NHS and Boris Johnson.
