ITV This Morning's new look as Dermot joins Holly for first time in nine years and makes announcement

While no permanent presenter has been announced to replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Dermot O'Leary shared some news on Monday, June 12 about his role on the ITV show, just minutes after it started with a new theme tune.

The new theme tune is a remix of the original theme by Gok Wan and played out to generic images before Holly Willoughby was joined by Dermot for the show for the first time in nine years. While Dermot is a regular host, he usually presents the show on a Friday alongside Alison Hammond.

Since Schofield quit This Morning on Saturday, May 20 and then subsequently ITV after admitting to an affair with a much young colleague, This Morning has had a number of different hosts throughout the week, including Dermot. But now he's confirmed he will be joining Holly on the This Morning sofa for the next two weeks. He said: "I'm here for two weeks!" The pair discussed the times they had worked together in the past on the Xtra Factor and while they have both been working on This Morning, they last appeared together on the daytime programme nine years ago.

"Hi Dermot O'Leary," Holly said before he replied: "It's weird because obviously we see each other a lot just in real life but we haven't worked together since we did The Xtra Factor together."

Holly said: "We did work together, here!" and explained it was in 2014 before a clip of them was shown together back then. Holly said: "This is nearly a decade ago... you look exactly the same! Exactly the same. I've got a lot more hair which probably isn't mine."

Dermot has been rumoured to be the full-time replacement for Phillip. Other presenters who have been stepping in include Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle. Viewers have been loving seeing Craig step in and help present the show.

Craig, 52, began working on This Morning last year. He initially started out as a competition presenter but soon transitioned into a main presenter on the show, sitting in whenever Holly, Phillip, Alison or Dermot were away.

One person said of Craig: "ABSOLUTELY should keep Craig on This Morning permanently! He is the perfect fit with Holly!” And a second agreed, writing: "If anyone could save TM I think its Craig. Very good presenter and works better with Holly than a female presenter.”
