ITV This Morning's Holly Willoughby steps in as Mark Wright fights back tears

Holly Willoughby stepped in to comfort Mark Wright on today's This Morning.

The broadcaster fronted Thursday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme alongside Phillip Schofield. They were joined by Mark to discuss the importance of CPR.

The former The Only Way is Essex star recalled the terrifying time he was forced to perform CPR on a man in need. The man sadly passed away and Mark was later thanked by the family for buying him some time.

Mark said: "I did what I could but he was there for a while before I got there." The 35-year-old apologised as he fought back tears as he recounted the tragic battle.

Holly stepped in to comfort him as she said: "It is really distressing because you've got someone's life under your hand and it doesn't get any more real than that."

Phil echoed the important of CPR as he revealed he saved his father's life many years ago. He said: "He collapsed when we lived in New Zealand and was certainly dead on the carpet and the whole world sort of went into sharp focus. I hadn't been trained but I'd watched stuff on TV and my mum was running next door. The whole place just in panic but I just did that."
