ITV This Morning's Holly Willoughby left screaming on live show

Holly Willoughby was left screaming on This Morning when a scientist set fire to their own hand.

The 38-year-old was taking part in a science segment when Dr Zoe Laughlin began making bubbles in water with a gas canister.

She then scooped up the bubbles and lit it, causing a huge flame.

Holly, clearly astonished, screamed, clasping her hand over mouth and stepped away from Dr Laughlin.

She said: "Oh my god. Didn't that hurt?"

Dr Laughlin said no - and Holly seemed keen to try it herself, screaming again when the bubbles on her palm burst into flames.

Jumping up and down, she said: "It's exhilarating!"

ITV Lorraine viewers left unimpressed by 'diabolical' makeovers

Earlier in the show, Holly and Phil joked about how they had brought in the paramedics, just in case.

And Holly was told to remove her suede shoes before the final experiment with dry ice.

After freezing a single red rose and smashing it into tiny pieces, Dr Laughlin told them both to stand back as she poured boiling water into the remaining dry ice causing the vapour to explode all over the studio.

Mum-of three Holly was clearly very excited by the segment - but some felt her reaction was a little over the top.

Ofcom confirm they are in talks with ITV about The Jeremy Kyle Show

One said on Twitter: "Stop squealing holly for gods sake."

Another said: "Stop screaming will ya!"

While a third said: "Holly is a scardy cat lol."

But plenty loved it, one said: "Hahaha laughing so much at #thismorning, Holly and Phill burning their hands."

*This Morning is on ITV1, weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am
