James Nesbitt surprised Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield when he appeared on the latest episode of This Morning. The actor appeared live in the ITV daytime show's studio to chat to the hosts about his new TV series.
Suspect is set to air on Channel 4 soon and will follow a veteran detective who is left devastated after turning up at a hospital mortuary for what he thinks is just a routine ID check – only to find the deceased young woman is his estranged daughter. It also stars Ben Miller, Richard E. Grant and Imogen King.
But the conversation soon turned when the trio ended up admitting that they almost got tattoos together after the National Television Awards, with a ‘sensible tattooist’ stopping them in their tracks.
However, it turns out James went ahead and got one on a different occasion. "I finally got one, you know," the Cold Feet told Holly and Phil who were audibly and visibly surprised. And it has a link to one of Manchester's football clubs.
"I went to Alex Ferguson's grandson's stag because I’m a good friend of his son. So it was me, Jake’s father, and 25-year-old boys and I was the only person who got a stick and poke tattoo of MUFC [Manchester United Football Club]," he explained, with stick and poke referring to a DIY inking that usually lasts between five and ten years.
"I did. It’s faded now, it looks like MULC, like Manchester United Lacrosse Club. But yeah I got it," James added. And it's not the first time he has surprised a couple of TV hosts this week.
As he continued the promotional trail for his new show, James appeared on The One Show on Wednesday night (June 15) where he spoke to Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas. But before they got stuck into talking about his new drama, Jermaine couldn't help but share his amazement after discovering James' vocal ability.
He was referring to his first ever feature film, 1991's Hear My Song, and the former footballer turned pundit and TV host said: "Now James, we're used to seeing you in huge dramas, let's be honest, but it was your first feature film called Hear My Song. You were with Adrian Dunbar from Line of Duty."
As a clip of the prolific TV star singing in the film played, Jermaine added: "I mean I have to say I saw this today. Your voice, very impressed by it, loved it, absolutely loved it." James then laughed as he explained how he and Adrian went off-script, making up their own lyrics to the tune.
