ITV This Morning's Holly Willoughby addresses Spin to Win 'cheating' controversy

Holly Willoughby spoke out about a controversial decision after a Liverpool woman won a holiday to Lanzarote.

This Morning introduced the Spin to Win segment of the show a couple of weeks ago.

Callers have to answer their phone with the password given to them when they enter, followed by answering a question about the show which Holly and Phil ask them.

They then get the chance to win cash or a holiday.

But yesterday, picked up the phone and answered 'hi', rather than the correct password of 'lime'.

Whilst Holly suspected she had said 'hi', Phil didn't, and gave the contestant the holiday - sparking a frenzy on Twitter.

Users commented to say they weren't happy with the decision and even went as far as to accuse the contestant of cheating.

Following the social media uproar, Holly and Phil addressed the situation on today's show.

Phil said: "A quick reminder of the rules, we could be ringing you in just a moment and it's really important that you remember to tell us today's password.

"There was a little bit of confusion yesterday."

Holly said: "'Lime' did sound like 'hi' and again we live and learn on this show. We were generous."

Phil chipped in: "But we might not be as generous today."
