ITV This Morning's Holly and Phil pull off hilarious prank involving 'Elton John'

Holly Willougby and Phillip Schofield thought they were the ultimate pranksters today when they managed to fool ITV employee's into thinking Sir Elton John was in the studio.

The This Morning duo were giddy with excitement as the famous singer 'performed' at the start of Wednesday's show.

But in the ultimate TV trickery, it wasn't actually Elton belting out his 80s hit I'm Still Standing. It was an impersenator.

Both donning a pair of star-shaped sunglasses and happily dancing around, Holly and Phil were clearly enjoying the musical number.

"Thanks Elton John – amazing," Holly giggled as the performance came to an end.

She then revealed: "The eagle-eyed among you might have noticed that up close our Rocketman might not look exactly like the real Elton John.

"He is in fact Paul Bacon, otherwise known as the ultimate Elton John act."

Then a smug Phil revealed that they had managed to convince the Good Morning Britain crew, who share the same studio in London's White City, that the lookalike was the real deal.

And it wasn't just staff they tricked.

Holly, 38, said: "There was a big crowd outside," before Phil added, "I have to say, a number of people have been fooled.

"The entire residence of Soho House were on the balcony looking out.

"The Good Morning Britain offices have just emptied and come out to watch, who they think, is Elton John."

Still finding the whole prank amusing, the 57-year-old presenter laughed: "We've fooled the whole of Television Centre.

"With Paul Bacon!"

'Elton's' appearance marked the London premiere of the singers biopic on Monday night.

Rocketman depicts Elton's story through the early years as he made his music debut a rocketed (excuse the pun) to superstardom.
