ITV This Morning's Holly and Phil leave fans stumped by 'new' studio

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield left This Morning fans surprised after unveiling a never-before-seen part of the studio.

The popular breakfast show, which airs weekdays on ITV, boasts an army of loyal fans who are familiar with the famous set.

But today, after returning from an advert break, Holly and Phil were sitting in plush seats in a completely different setting.

Phil quickly revealed what was going on.

The presenter, 58, said: "The discussions we have, in here, of a morning - you know, when we've all been in here, there's hardly any of us here, here since March and we're saying, 'we hardly ever use this part of the studio.'"

Holly said: "I know, I bet you're thinking, 'where are they? Where have they gone?'"

Phil said: "It's just another side of the studio that-"

Holly interjected: "Well this was our guest green room but we've got no guests."

Phil laughed and said: "We're not allowed guests anymore."

Holly added: "It's just a space we don't use."

Phil then pulled out a large ornament of a black cat, with Holly saying that was "the real reason" the presenters had ventured to the new space.

Phil stroked the model cat and pretended to be a Bond villain.

Holly said: "Could you find a more terrifying looking cat?" She added: "It suits you."

Phil quipped: "It's taken half an hour to sanitise it."

Viewers shared their thoughts on Twitter.

Stuart said: "I really need to have a look round your studio sets."

Bob said: "Who would have guessed that?"

Charlie shared a laughing emoji and added: "Someone forgot to put away the cat for Halloween."

*This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am
