ITV This Morning's heartbroken Ruth Langsford walks off set over sister’s death

An emotional Ruth Langsford had to leave the set of This Morning after becoming upset over her late sister's death.

The 58-year-old presenter, whose sibling Julie died in June, walked out of the studio during an upsetting phone-in.

A caller was describing her mental health issues and asking for advice, when Ruth found it all too much.

Ruth's husband and presenting partner Eamonn Holmes said: "She’s upset now and she’s had to leave the studio.

"This is because of her sister who was a chronic depressive and no matter what help or medication as there it didn’t seem to make much difference."

At the end of the segment, Eamonn said: "We'll get Ruth back after the break, obviously these things are very raw for her at the moment following the death of her sister."

After the break, Ruth returned to the studio to continue presenting, reports The Mirror.

In June, Ruth shared the tragic news on Instagram , posting a gorgeous picture of her and her sister together.

She said: "My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

"She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding."
