ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond thanks Holly and Phillip after joy over unexpected announcement

Alison Hammond has shown her delight after Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby shared some unexpected news about her during their latest This Morning appearance. The hosts were back fronting the ITV daytime show on Wednesday (May 18) when they made an announcement that Alison had 'broken America.'

The TV star, who hosts the show every Friday with Dermot O'Leary, has become a big hit with fans as she steers the show every week. However, Alison is probably best loved for her celebrity interviews, sharing many memorable moments with some of Hollywood's biggest stars of the years.

And now, clips of her showbiz encounters and her infectious laughter that often crops up during them has caught the attentions of those across the Atlantic and have been on featured on a primetime American show.

Starting the show yesterday, Holly, 41, said: "We have big news about our very own Alison Hammond...she has broken America!" Phillip, 60, then explained: "In a montage played on last week's Tonight with John Oliver, viewers were treated to a compilation of Alison's laugh."

The montage entitled 'The Delightful Delight of Alison Hammond,' then played out on screen and included a bit of her interview with actors Harrison Ford and co-star Ryan Gosling, which resulted in her collapsing into laughter after admitting to Harrison she'd never seen Blade Runner.

As the lip ended and cameras cut back to the studio when Holly remarked: "Well done! It was only a matter of time." Phillip then shared more praise for Alison, adding: "That is the biggest how for comedians in America. What a great thing to be on."

Alison then took to Instagram to share the clip of Holly and Phil revealing her news. Clearly excited, she said: "I've broken America!! with …… wait for it …………….my Laugh." She then added: "@thismorning thanks holly and phil for the big up."

Love Island host Laura Whitmore was among those commenting on Alison's post, writing: "Best laugh!!" while former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens said: Love youand that fabulous laugh."

Mrs Hinch, aka Sophie Hinchcliffe, also shared: " You just bloody make my day QUEEN!" and Good Morning Britain's showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold added: " I broke it with a ‘fart’ on air: it was a squeaky @gmb sofa. But the ‘fart’ was heard around the world!"
