ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond makes surprise quip to Carol Vorderman about her love life after own 'split'

Alison Hammond didn't hold back when she made a cheeky remark about Carol Vorderman's love life on This Morning. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Friday (March 24) alongside her co-host Dermot O'Leary.

And the former Countdown host, who hasn't been shy in talking about a number of her 'special friends', was back on the show for the latest 'This Morning's View' segment. Joining Vanessa Feltz in the studio, the group chatted about the latest news headlines and shared the stories getting people talking.

One of the subjects they discusses was whether dogs should be kept on a leash while out walking in public spaces after a police horse was injured in a dog attack. This led Carol to talk about her own experiences of walking in the countryside.

And while she said that she did not have a dog at the moment, she would love to have one to which Alison couldn't help but respond with a joke as she quipped back: "You haven't got time for dogs! Too many friends!"

Dermot then cheekily interjected: "None of them are leashed" to which Carol continued to laugh and quipped back: "That is what you think!"

Carol's love life is often hitting the headlines and appeared live on This Morning earlier this year to chat about her approach to romance after previously slipping into a conversation that she is seeing five different men.

She opened up about her own love life previously on the show after answering a caller’s questions about casual dating. Carol shared how concerns around casual dating were a "nonsense taboo that should be broken" and said at the time that she had "never felt freer" and had stopped looking for "one person".

Then, during a recent appearance on Michelle Visage’s podcast, Rule Breakers, Carol was asked if she was currently in a relationship, to which the former Countdown star quite simply replied: "No!" She then continued: “I’m having the best time. I’ve spoken about this once. I have a system which I’ve had for 10 years. They’re called ‘special friends.'"

The 62-year-old star then went on to explain that she's been in 'long-term relationships if you like' with her special friends as she has been dating some of them for many years. "One's 11 years, one's seven years, you know everyone is single," she shared. "It's a happy place. I hasten to add I'm not into one-night stands," Carol said.

And Alison's remark comes after she appeared to confirm her own love split. The 48-year-old revealed last year that she had a secret boyfriend. But during last week's this morning, Alison and Dermot were discussing the new reality dating series Romance Retreat, set to fill the Love Island void in our lives, which Davina McCall has confirmed she will be hosting after 'manifesting' the gig after sharing her hopes for an 'older' version of the hit ITV2 dating show.

Alison said of the series: "It’s a great idea," but Dermot turned the attention to her as he said: "Hold on a second, there’s a casting call Alison. ITV is looking for vibrant single parents…" To which mum-of-one Alison replied: "Hey, I'm single," before joking she would sign up to meet men and also take her chance at winning the prize money.

"I would give the money to charity. I could do that and find a nice man," she said. "Your two favourite things," Dermot joked. And her split suggestion comes just weeks after she denied she was engaged.
