ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond lost for words after discovery about Cardiff Mexican food truck

This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary tucked in to a bit of Mexican grub at the end of the show in Friday, December 16 - and Alison was left surprised by it. Food-truck business, Cosmo's, which is the brainchild of Cardiff couple Daryl and Michelle, featured as part of a Christmas Market segment where the presenting duo tried various festive foods from around the UK.

Introducing Cosmo's, Dermot asked: "You travel the country in your 1950s vintage caravan with vibrant, Mexican street food. So where did the idea come from?" Daryl replied: "We had a gastro-café in the Brecon Beacons and then Covid hit so after a little while, we decided that the best thing was to go mobile and get out and about."

The Welsh couple then gave Alison and Dermot a "festive twist" on their Mexican menu and served them tacos with blue corn, roasted sprout, battered shallot and crispy sage. Michelle said: "We're a plant-based trader so it's a natural crossover from doing Mexican street food."

And Alison was certainly surprised to discover the food was meat-free. "So is all this plant-based?" Alison exclaimed before Michelle confirmed it indeed was. "I didn't even notice, that's so good," she added.

Alison and Dermot aren't the only ones to enjoy Cosmo's, either as the business took third place at the Welsh Street Food Awards earlier this year. To find out more about the business, visit https://www.cosmoskitchen.co.uk/.
