ITV This Morning heads back to Liverpool for historic first

This Morning headed back to Liverpool today for a historic first.

Today the show headed to Liverpool Cathedral, to ring in the first show of 2020, featuring Holly and Phil.

Under the new ITV schedule This Morning now starts at 10am and to celebrate the first time the show has started at that time Alison Hammond was at the Cathedral in the city centre.

Holly and Phil watched in the studio as Alison rang the cathedral bells, alongside the professional bell ringers.

Alison jumped up and Holly and Phil watched shocked as the bells rang out.

And one viewer tweeted into the show to say the bells had woken them up.

Sharing a photo of the cathedral Tom said: "Alison woke me up with that bell ringing. This is my view from my bedroom window. Tell her to pop in for a cuppa."

This Morning was filmed in the Albert Dock for years with Richard and Judy hosting - before it relocated to London.

In 2018 the show returned to the dock for a special show for the 30th anniversary - with Alison making waves there as she knocked a model into the water.

As Alison was just getting into the swing of weather reporting, things took a turn for the worse when one of her helpers fell face first into the Albert Dock .

The media personality attempted to jump from England to Northern Ireland on the map, but in turn managed to push one of the men helping her across into the Albert Dock.

A shocked Alison shouted: "Oh my gosh are you alright? I am so sorry."

She then embraced him in a hug before exclaiming: "I'm all flustered, we are going to carry on with the weather because it is very, very important."
