ITV This Morning fans all think the same as boy, 6, sends money to footballer

Fans of ITV's This Morning all thought the same thing today as hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond discussed today's news headlines.

There was one story reported which involved a six-year-old boy named Joe had who wrote a letter to his favourite footballer, Swindon Town's Harry McKirdy.

In the letter he explained his mums money struggles and attached 26p in coins to the handwritten note.

The letter read: "Mummy doesn't have any money to come to Swindon games because she has no money for food and has to pay for my dinner at school.

"I like Swindon Town Harry McKirdy. I will come one day."

He signed it: "Joe, 6 1/2"

The guest on the show, Nicola Thorp, said she had her own theory on why he attached the money to the letter.

She explained: "I have a theory that he put the 26p in there because that used to be the price of a stamp. And he's thought if I put the money in the envelope it's going to get there."

Fans on Twitter were baffled at the bizarre theory as they questioned how the young boy would know the price of a stamp.

Corinne said: "#ThisMorning surely the 26p in that letter was clearly because that's the number of the little boys fave player?! Not because it used to be a price of a stamp!!! How would he know what the price of a stamp used to be?!"

Sara said: "How would a six year old know a stamp used to be 26p? It hasn’t been for years! #ThisMorning"

Christopher said: "26p for a stamp, not in his lifetime #ThisMorning"

Alison went on to explain that they were hoping to raise awareness for the young boy as a fundraiser had been set up to help support him and his family.

But no one knows who six-and-a-half year old Joe is, so the show was hoping to raise awareness of the letter to try and figure it out.

Nicola said that Swindon Town should offer to pay for the boy's dinners if they manage to find him.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub
