ITV This Morning and Loose Women fans fuming as shows cancelled

Some ITV viewers were left fuming today as the network cancelled favourites This Morning and Loose Women for General Election coverage.

Fans of the flagship TV shows were angry they couldn't escape from the continuous stream of political commentary by enjoying their usual morning entertainment.

Since 10pm on Thursday, December 12, ITV has featured only programmes focused on the results of the vote, which saw a Tory landslide as Boris Johnson secured the biggest Conservative majority since the 1980s.

This then bled into Good Morning Britain's special coverage which saw Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid hosting, despite the pair not usually working on a Friday.

GMB was extended to 9.25am as Lorraine Kelly's sister show was also cancelled, and in a change to the usual scheduling, Judge Rinder was replaced with more election coverage.

People hoping for a reprieve were disappointed with the disruption to their regular Friday morning viewing, and some said they simply turned off their TVs.

One, @Mexmexmex81 said: " Well, there’s no #lorraine I’m sick of hearing about the f***ing #GeneralElection2019 on #gmb so I’m gunna get my pal Alexa on and blast out the Christmas bangers!!! Laters taters."

Another, @ChantalMascoe said: " Where's #Thismorning not interested in the CONS party. Where's Eammon and Ruth."

The normal ITV schedule resumes at 2pm with Dickinson's Real Deal.
