ITV The Real Housewives of Cheshire star working on menopause clothing line

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Seema Malhotra is working on a clothing line for menopausal women after a shining a light on the subject for a powerful documentary. Seema, the owner of the Manchester-based online global fashion brand Forever Unique, has recognised that she needs to adapt her collection for customers who are experiencing the stage of life when their periods stop, bringing on symptoms including hot flushes.

Speaking to Johnny Seifert on the Secure The Insecure podcast she said: "I’ve just done this documentary with the Housewives on the menopause. I'm inundated with people messaging me saying, 'can you not make a collection where the fabrics are breathable, you know, we're suffering these hot flushes.'

"And, you know, yeah, you could say, 'god, where does this then end? You know, for me, I like it. I was like, 'yes, this is something that I need to be doing. That's my next challenge.'"

She continued: "I don't want to say I ever want to be complacent because I think, for me personally, when the brand first started, I'd say five, six years on, I became complacent. I took the foot off the gas, where I just thought 'yeah, we've done it.' We'd open offices all over the world. You know 'this is my collection, it's the best.'

"No, why did I even think that? So I take on these challenges, because I think at that point I think we've just made it and relaxed with the whole collection. I think you've got to constantly have that fire. What's the next thing? Gets boring. So yeah, I love it."

Seema recently joined her co-stars to launch a social media movement named #HOTMESS. The eye-catching campaign, featuring each of the Housewives candidly posing looking hot and sweaty from the face down holding empowering signs, launched alongside a two-part documentary as part of the new series of the ITVBe reality show The Real Housewives of Cheshire which started last Monday..

The campaign aimed to to raise awareness on the menopause, which usually happens between the age of 45 and 55. And its mission was to highlight that while women may look glamorous on the outside, inside they might be struggling

Mum-of-two Seema, who turned 51 last week, shared her journey in the documentary, outlining the struggles she has felt dealing with the menopause, and the impact it had on her life both physically, mentally and emotionally. She has credited her family for their support, particularly her husband Sandeep, who she admits had pushed away during her lowest points.

Seema has returned to our screens for series 15 of the Real Housewives of Cheshire (ITV and Monkey Kingdom)

She said: "It’s so important in this day and age to talk about our struggles and educate ourselves on issues that every woman will go through in their lives. In my culture, female problems were never discussed.

"I found out in my later adult years that my superhero mum, had kept her suffering in silence. I feel compelled to speak out and try and help other women through this emotionally draining period in their lives. I also want to change the narrative and help bring some positivity with our message."
