ITV The Masked Dancer Candlestick and Scissors identities 'solved' after vital clues

The Masked Dancer was back tonight as a new set of celebrities attempted to baffle, bewilder and bamboozle the panel and viewers with their dance moves whilst covered from head to toe in extravagant and elaborate costumes.

Twelve new celebrities stepped onto the dancefloor to take on character alter ego. Clue packages accompanied every Masked Dancer to help the panel crack the case of who the famous faces behind the masks are.

Last series viewers saw OIympic gymnast Louis Smith storm to victory dressed as Car Wash. The series also saw Radio DJ and presenter Zoe Ball unmasked as Llama, choreographer and TV judge Craig Revel Horwood as Knickerbocker Glory, Ice skating legend Christopher Dean as Beagle and presenter Kelly Brook as Frog.

However, within minutes of the first characters appearing, viewers at home already knew who was behind the mask. The first celebrity to perform was Candlestick.

In their video tape, Candlestick shared how they were both a "loser and a winner". There were also hints about 'judging'.

Candlestick danced to Take That's Relight My Fire. At the end of their performance they gave a second clue.

They said: "I 'kneed' to let you know, I went via Tinseltown on the way to success." This lead many fans to speculate Candlestick is Olly Murs.

Last year, the singer revealed he had surgery on his knee after injuring himself during a performance at Newmarket Races. He also has a song called 'I Blame Hollywood'.

One viewer, Leanne tweeted: "Olly Murs for Candlestick." Aidan said: "Candlestick is definitely Olly Murs."

Debs said: "100% think candlestick is @ollymurs … knee clue related to his knee surgery and the mention of Tinseltown is reference to “I blame Hollywood” track!!" And Brooke Kelly said: "Metal knee. Candlestick is @ollymurs."

Viewers were also certain they knew who Scissors was. The character performed an incredible samba, showing off their professional skills.

Following their dance, Scissors said: "These 'peepers' are feline like they could use forty winks." Immediately fans suggested Ashley Roberts as the star behind the mask.

Ashley is part of The Pussycat Dolls and competed on Strictly Come Dancing. Daniel tweeted: "Great to have #TheMaskedDancer back. I guess Ashley Roberts for someone in #TheMaskedSinger every year, and I think she Scissors could be her."

Emma Carroll said: "Ashley Roberts is Scissors." And Milly added: "I'm convinced scissors is Ashley Roberts."
