ITV The Games host Holly Willoughby blamed for low ratings as fans blast 'naff' show

Viewers of ITV's The Games have blamed host Holly Willoughby as the reason why ratings have been dipping for the show.

The popular This Morning television presenter has been hosting the celebrity sports competition series since it's big launch on Monday night, with over two million people tuning in.

However, as reported by the Mirror, Tuesday's episode saw a loss of half a million fans, a quarter of its viewership.

One of the main reasons it has been reported to have flopped is due to a schedule clash with BBC One show Freeze The Fear - another show Holly presents.

The BBC series airs at 9pm, the same time as ITV's The Games, and features the likes of Alfie Boe and Dianne Buswell, as they compete in tough challenges in the Alps.

Freeze The Fear has drawn in an audience of 1.8 million viewers, with The Games trailing behind on 1.5 million.

Viewers blame the drop on the fact Holly is all over their screens at the moment - with many taking to social media to publicly share their opinion.

One Twitter user said: "Turned off when I saw she was on it."

Another wrote: "I am sick of seeing her on everything."

And a third said: "Is no one else available to host this?"

Another said: "Overdose of Holly Willoughby tonight, The Games Freeze The Fear."

And a fifth added: "BBC & ITV going head to head tonight with two of Holly Willoughby's shows..."

Not everyone agreed, however, with some fans happy to see the host on both shows.

One Twitter user wrote: "HOLLY YOU BABE!! such a nice person. I am gonna miss Freeze The Fear so much. You are brilliant on this show so much care. Ignore any haters you are brilliant and so kind. You deserve all your success."

Not everyone is a fan of the reboot of The Games, with one social media user stating: "If this was on the BBC I'd demand my money back."

Another noted: "This reboot is a bit naff."

And a third said: "This rubbish is on prime time every night this week.

The Games continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
