ITV The Games hit by criticism as fans take aim at Holly Willoughby's appearance

ITV The Games viewers have criticised the new show over its presenter line-up. Fans have been left confused by Holly Willoughby’s inclusion on the show given her lack of sporting background.

Others, meanwhile, have blasted Holly - the ITV This Morning and BBC Freeze the Fear regular - for being on TV too much. She and Freddie Flintoff the faces of the show.

Brekkie said: “Freddie and Holly proof that you can put two decent presenters together but if there is no chemistry there is no chemistry. #TheGames.” Herr David said: “Holly and flat earth Freddy aren’t exactly the new Ant & Dec are they?”

Steve said: “Can Holly (or her producer husband) not let someone else have a go at presenting something?#thegames.”

John said: “I don’t understand @ITV at all having Holly Willougby as lead presenter on #TheGames like she said she is not a sporting expert,” according to Birmingham Live.

“It would have made more sense having someone like Denise Lewis, Ellie Simmonds or Stef Reid present the show.”

Kye said: “Massive editing issues on #TheGames. Way too much chat. I assumed the events were live but a 3 & a half minute edited fly-through of the men’s hammer? Show us the games. I assure you, nobody’s here to watch Holly & Freddie’s “banter” with the youtuber.”

The ITV show has received complaints about Holly Willoughby's appearance (ITV)

Andy wrote: “This #TheGames on ITV is mad, they’ve ripped off Superstars but couldn’t be bothered to get any actual celebrities or sports stars. So, I’m basically watching a school sports day presented by Holly Willoughby and commentated on by Chris Kamara. Surreal.”
