ITV The Chase viewers warn contestant to 'stay off Twitter'

Viewers of award-winning show The Chase moved to warn a contestant to "stay off Twitter" following an underwhelming performance.

Jason faced the first round cash builder but only managed to bank £2,000, however this wasn't what upset avid fans of the programme.

The 24-year-old undertaker was offered a high amount of £40,000 but accepted the low amount of £1,000 by chaser Mark "The Beast" Labbett.

Jason tried to rationalise his choice as there was "not much difference" between the £1,000 lower offer and his original £2,000, but people at home felt very differently.

He even hinted that people would be upset, he told host Bradley Walsh: "People at home are going to be like 'what on earth, you are showing us up'."

The Beast said: "I thing you showed yourself up when you only got £2,000 in the cash builder."

But Jason was right, viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustration with his moral dilemma.

One, @JMegafu said: "Jesus Jason.. Why go low?"

Another, @r_a_poe said: "Undertaker going low."

A third, @TellyTweets said: "Tip for ya Jason...Stay off twitter laddy."

And a fourth, @JCH999 said: "He went LOW? I am NOT surprised at all."

Unfortunately, even with a distance of three spaces between them, the chaser caught Jason and he went home with nothing.

His fellow teammates, Amy and Russell went up against the chaser for £16,000, but they were caught with 10 seconds remaining.

*The Chase is on ITV1, weekdays from 5pm
