ITV The Chase viewers make Piers Morgan comparison about contestants

The Chase viewers couldn't help but liken tonight's contestants to Piers Morgan as four quizzers attempted to win a hefty cash prize.

Archie, Denika, Tariq and Steve took on Anne Hegerty to win £12,000.

Prior to the cash-builder and the head-to-head round, host Bradley Walsh tends to ask the players a few questions.

Typical questions are 'what do you do for a living?' or 'how do you relax in your spare time?'.

Denika said she had met a number of celebs (ITV)

And whilst that didn't differ today, the contestants' responses caught viewers' attention.

Many believed that the players were taking too long to answer, with some comparing it to Piers Morgan's show Life Stories.

Viewers referenced Tariq's sidel job as a children's author, Denika mentioning how she'd met Rihanna and Archie revealing to Bradley that he practised kickboxing in Asia.

Despite the programme being aired for the one-hour allotted slot, some fans felt the contestant's backstories took too long.

Hayley said: "Goes on a bit don’t he that archie."

Karren tweeted: "The contestants should get their own Reality TV show for a week before they make their appearance on #thechase so we can REALLY get to know them."

Another said: "This is getting like Piers Morgan Life Stories."

And Janet wrote: "Life storyline already get on with it."

I TV is currently showing re-runs of series nine, which was filmed four years ago.

New episodes are expected to air in a month's time.
