ITV The Chase viewers brand Scots contestant an 'embarrassment' after decision

A Scots contestant on The Chase has been branded an "embarrassment" following a quick decision he made on the hugely popular ITV programme.

The show returned on Monday and featured Alan, from North Ayrshire, who was joined by fellow contestants Suzi, Theo and Fey as they battled to beat the Chaser for cash.

But the three of them exited the competition in the final round of yesterday afternoon's show.

Piano tuner Alan, was up last and landed £8,000 as his middle-tier choice - it was then when The Chaser gave him an offer of £62,000 to see of he would take the chance of winning a large sum of money, writes Edinburgh Live.

Instead he decided to stick to the £8,000 and make a mistake-free route to the final round, but people watching at home were less than impressed.

Taking to social media, one person said: "An embarrassment to Alans everywhere. Low offer enabler #thechase." Another typed: ""#TheChase Fs Alan."

A third tweeted: "Hope Alan doesn’t come on twitter tonight !#TheChase." While a fourth penned: "#thechase they all could have gone higher and still lost and will lose the final."

However, others congratulated the Scottish contestant in his expertise in answering questions. One Twitter user wrote: "Well done, Alan. They’ve got a good chance here #TheChase."

And another added: "Alan's come to win money, Fey's just happy to be there. #TheChase."

But then, as Alan and Fey ended up losing out, one Twitter user had this to say: "Oh Alan #thechase."
