ITV The Chase viewers baffled by geography student’s gaffe on coastline question

A Geography student on quiz show The Chase left viewers exasperated after getting a coastline question wrong. Geography student Grace was posed a question about which of the following countries has a coastline on the North Atlantic Ocean.

The question asked: "Which of these NATO member countries has a coastline on the North Atlantic?". Many viewers thought that this would have been a dead cert for the geography student.

The choices were Croatia, the Czech Republic, or Canada. Grace opted for Croatia, which is in southern Europe and borders the Adriatic sea south of Venice.

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to express their frustration at the answer. Many of them felt that the question should have been easy for someone studying geography.

One user posted: "Don't mean to be unkind, but she is everything you ever thought about geography students". Another said: "So the geography student got two geography questions wrong. Shocking."

Some thought that she might be in the wrong subject. One said: "Think she needs to change her university subject."

Sadly, things only got worse for Grace after she ended up on her last legs with the chaser. Things appeared to look up when she was given another geography question: "which of these Welsh cities is closest to Cardiff?".

The choices were St Asaph, St David's, and Swansea. Sadly though, Grace was having a bad day and got this wrong before being caught by the chaser and eliminated from the show.

Some viewers pointed out that there is more to geography than maps. One user said: "I feel I should point out to the boomers of Twitter that there's a lot more to geography than pointing at places on a map."
