ITV The Chase taken off air from next week for new show Cash Trapped

The Chase is one of ITV's most popular shows, but from next week it's being taken off air in favour of another game show - called Cash Trapped.

From Monday, November 11 The Chase's 5pm slot will be filled by Bradley Walsh's other quiz show.

It will be the third series of Cash Trapped, but lots of people will be unfamiliar with the show.

Cash Trapped sees six contestants compete through four rounds on each episode.

All six remain on the show until one of them successfully "escapes" in the final round.

Any contestant who wishes to leave the show at the end of an episode may do so, but must forfeit their accumulated money; they are replaced by a new contestant who starts with no winnings.

Cash Trapped on ITV (ITV)

ITV haven't announced how long The Chase will be off air for, but one of the Chasers has shed some light on the situation.

Chaser Anne Hegerty replied to a fan on Twitter who asked when The Chase would be starting again and said that Cash Strapped would be on for five weeks.

She said: "CT is only on for five weeks, and this year we have TWO Christmas specials for you!!"

The fan asked if season 13 of the Chase would start in December or January and Anne replied: " I have no idea, transmission schedule and recording schedule are quite seperate."

And other fans were not happy about the change.

Sue Goldsmith said: "Not happy that we are losing The Chase for Cash trapped. As much as I think you're great Bradders, it isn't the same as The Chase."

Strictly Superfan said: "Please axe @CashTrapped , nobody likes it, and there will be a major uproar from the chase fanbase. I for one will not watch."

And Stephanie Treasure said: "Um... what is this #cashtrapped coming on Monday @ITV ? Where is my beloved #TheChase ?!"

ITV have been contacted for comment.
