ITV The Chase 'superstar' contestant wipes smile from The Beast's face

A contestant on The Chase wiped the smile from Mark Labbett's face on Friday's show.

The Beast was today's Chaser standing in the way of four new contestants on the latest edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Robin, Lynne, Seb and Andrea were the quizzers testing their wits to win a cash prize.

Robin and Lynne both progressed past the Beast to book their place in the Final Chase after impressive performances.

Seb was up in seat 3 - and the 23-year-old left Bradley Walsh in stitches with a hilarious appearance.

The Sociology and Education student built up £6,000 in his cash-builder and avoided temptation by playing for the amount he earned rather than opt for the £36,000 offered by Mark Labbett.

He joked: "I wouldn't get out of bed for £36,000."

Bradley Walsh was rooting for Seb to slay the Beast and he also won over fans on Twitter who praised him as a superstar.

Michelle said: "Love Seb."

Cc said: "Seb is such a character. I’ve laughed all the way through this."

Martin commented: "Seb is a laugh."

India tweeted: "Seb - Superstar."

Seb and Mark engaged in a nail-biting head-to-head and Mark thought he had finally knocked him out with a question on Greek mythology.

Bradley asked: "In Greek myth, Zeus punished the treacherous king Ixion by binding him for eternity to what?"

The Beast confidently laughed as he was convinced Seb wouldn't be able to get the correct answer.

However, Seb proved Mark wrong when he opted for "Burning Wheel" to book his place in the Final Round.

Mark conceded: "I knew Ixion's wheel. he guessed it. That's life."

The Beast caught Andrea in seat 4 meaning the three players were competing for a combined total of £20,000.

The team built up 18 steps in the Final Chase, but Mark Labbett was in imperious form as he answered all his questions correctly meaning the team left empty-handed.

*The Chase is on ITV on weekdays at 5pm
