ITV The Chase: Scots nurse scoops £17,000 jackpot after tense showdown with Dark Destroyer

A Scots The Chase contestant was over the moon when she scooped the jackpot on the ITV show after a tense final chase.

The four contestants made it back to the table for the final chase, upping their chances of taking home the jackpot.

The team took on Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer, and when they got 20 questions correct, everyone knew that it was going to be a close call.

Prior to the win, Carla, 43, from Edinburgh was the last contestant to take on the chaser.

Host Bradley Walsh asked what she did for a living, and she told him she was a community nurse.

He then replied: "How long have you been a nurse?"

Carla wanted to win the cash to take her kids to Berlin (ITV Screengrab)

She said: "I've been a nurse for 16 years and I've been in the community for about ten.

Bradley then quizzed Carla, 43, on what she would like to do with the cash, she said that she was taking part in the show to hopefully take her children on holiday. She said: "I haven't been abroad since I had my children! So I'd like to take them somewhere nice. They are ten and six, Brody and Murdo.

"I'd quite like to take them to Berlin, it's a really interesting city and there would be quite a lot for them to do as well! It's a vibrant, modern city!"

Brad teased her at her choice of holiday and then she took to the table for the cash builder.

After a series of questions, Carla bagged £6,000 and opted to go for what she earned against Shaun and made it back for the final showdown with the other three contestants Matt, Brad and Jay.

Bradley said: "It's time for Brody and Murdo to have a holiday of a lifetime! It's time for the final chase."

The team managed to bag 20 questions, but as The Dark Destroyer made a few silly mistakes, this meant they secured 3 pushbacks - allowing them to win the £17,000 with 4 questions to go.

Meaning each contestant took home £4250.

The Chase in on STV and Stv player at 5pm Monday to Friday.
