ITV The Chase's new Chaser confirmed as former contestant

The Chase's new Chaser has been confirmed as a former contestant.

Darragh Ennis will be the sixth Chaser on the ITV gameshow, with his episodes due to air soon.

The Irish contestant is best known for the trending hashtag of #justicefordarragh after he smashed his cash-builder and brought back a solid £9000 to his team.

However, his fellow teammates opted for minus offers which depleted the prize fund to £2700.

Darragh tweeted: "I'm really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.

"I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway."

Fellow Chasers took to Twitter to congratulate Darragh on his new role.

Mark Labbett said: "Welcome to the pros kid. If you thought you were working hard before, you ain’t seen nothing yet :)

"To be a winner, train like the Sinha!"

And Paul Sinha said: "The night before they producers told us, Anne and Mark and I sat at dinner and pondered "Could it be a former contestant".

"I said, 'If it is, the best player I faced was an Irish guy who looked a bit like Micky Flanagan'.

"Welcome to the club mate."
