ITV The Chase's Mark Labbett leaves fans fuming with controversial advice

Fans of The Chase couldn't believe Mark Labbett's advice he gave to a contestant on the show today.

Don, Janet, Becca and Ronnie took part in the gameshow hoping to win the coveted prize fund.

Drama student Becca from Hull was up first, but suffered a shaky cash-builder securing only £2000.

It was then time for her to face The Beast as she was offered a guaranteed way back home - by taking the low offer.

But if she chose to take a step closer to home, she would only play for £1.

Becca stuck to the £2000 (ITV)

Deciding that it was too little, Becca stuck with the £2,000.

However, The Beast shocked fans when he said if he were in her position he would have taken £1.

Vivy wrote: "What are you on about Mark?!"

Chloe said: "£1", followed by cry-laughter emojis.

And Franki tweeted: "When @MarkLabbett tells you to take the £1 you know he thinks you’re not up to the job and you may as well get your coat."

This is not the first time Mark has suggested contestants should take the low offer.

Earlier this year, he told a player: "You do get a group of people at home on the Internet who say 'I would never take the low offer or minus offer.

"Give me a bible and I'll happily swear on it, I would take the negative low offer in the right circumstances."
