ITV The Chase's Mark Labbett hits back at complaining fans over new episodes

ITV Chasers have hit back after fans of the The Chase were left confused again by the latest season.

Brand new episodes of the popular gameshow started to air this week after ITV has broadcasted repeats for the majority of the year.

On Tuesday's episode, Bradley Walsh welcomed contestants Gemma, Elizabeth, Sydney and Eden to test their quizzing skills against new Chaser Darragh Ennis.

However, fans on Twitter have been left confused by the new episodes as no social distancing measures have been implemented.

One fan said: "I thought it was supposed to be a new season this week."

Another questioned: "Is this a new one?

A third added: "Are these really new #TheChase as they seem to be pre covid due to the way its all set out?"

This is the second day in a row that fans have been asking this question - and it forced today's Chaser to take to Twitter to clarify the problem.

Darragh Ennis said: "For those asking, this was filmed a long time ago before the first lockdown. That's why there's not social distancing #TheChase"

The Menace was not the only Chaser to respond to the queries as Mark Labbett also took to social media to hit back at viewers sending complaints his way.

He said: "Would people who have complaints about #TheChase please direct them to @itvchase. Otherwise you are wasting your time"

The contestants on Tuesday's episode found The Chaser in formidable form as The Menace took caught the first three contestants.

However, 20-year-old Eden defied the odds to progress to the final to compete for a whopping £75,000.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV aqnd ITVHub
