ITV The Chase's Darragh Ennis says he's 'officially made it' after quiz clue

The Chase's newest Chaser Darragh Ennis said he's "officially made it" after "apparently" appearing as a clue in the TV Times' crossword.

Presented by Bradley Walsh, the hit ITV quiz show sees four strangers go up against one of the eponymous and ruthless Chasers, who are among the finest quizzing brains in the world.

The Chasers are made up of Mark 'the Beast' Labbett, Shaun 'the Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Anne 'the Governess' Hegerty, Paul 'the Sinnerman' Sinha, Jenny 'the Vixen' Ryan and new Chaser, Darragh 'the Menace' Ennis.

Each player must first complete a solo cash builder round to try and accumulate money to add to the jackpot, before facing the Chaser in a tense head to head.

If they're successful, their earnings are added to the prize fund and they bag a spot in the Final Chase. If the players answer more questions correctly than a Chaser in the nail-biting final showdown, then they win the money and it is split equally between them.

Darragh is a former Chase contestant.

The Irish player is best known for the trending hashtag of #justicefordarragh after he smashed his cash-builder and brought back an impressive £9,000 to his team.

But his success was undone when fellow teammates opted for minus offers which depleted the prize fund to £2,700.

Darragh made his first appearance as a Chaser just last month, delighting fans.

And it seems he's enjoying his newfound fame. The quizzing pro took to Twitter and said: "Apparently I'm a clue in the TV times crossword. #OfficiallyMadeIt."

Fellow Chaser Anne Hegerty liked his tweet.

Social media users seemed to agree with him, too. One Twitter user said: "That's how you know you've made it. That and being an answer on Pointless!"

Bethany said: "You are now officially a celebrity congratulations."

Emily added: "Living the dream."

*The Chase airs weekdays on ITV from 5pm
