ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh taken aback by Liverpool contestant's career past

The Chase's Bradley Walsh was taken aback by a Liverpool contestant's career past on today's programme.

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new players on Friday's edition of the popular ITV game show.

Jenny, Adrian, Michael and Dot tested their wits against Darragh Ennis in a bid to win a cash prize.

Jenny was up in seat 1 and built up £6,000 before she was caught by the The Menace.

Adrian put in an impressive performance to book his place in the Final Chase before it was Michael's turn to face the Chaser.

The 26-year-old from Liverpool was competing to raise money to put towards his dad's 60th birthday trip to Mexico.

Michael works as a civil engineer, but he told the host he had originally trained to become a WWE wrestler.

He said: "Nothing came of it, but it was a good experience."

Bradley was taken aback by the revelation and questioned what his wrestling stage name was.

The host was in hysterics as the Liverpool contestant joked he didn't get that far into training - so just went by Michael.

The contestant proceeded to put in an formidable showing as he banked £6,000 before navigating past the Chaser in a dramatic battle to progress to the final Chase.

He was joined by Dot and Adrian in the last round and the team were competing for an overall £18,000.

They built up 20 steps, but were caught by Darragh with one second remaining in a nail-biting Final Chase - meaning they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
