ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh offers player a job after 'best ever' performance

Bradley Walsh offered a contestant a job after a thrilling performance on today's episode of The Chase.

The 61-year-old welcomed four new players on this week's final edition of the popular ITV show.

Simon, Carly, Steph and George were testing their wits against one of the UK's finest quiz brains, Paul Sinha, to win a cash prize.

Simon was up in seat 1 and the 42-year-old pilot started off strongly by banking £7.000 in the cash-builder.

The Glasgow native then proceeded to smoothly navigate his way past The Sinnerman to book his place in the Final Chase.

Paul relented and looked in ominous form as he caught Carly and George during their head-to-heads.

Simon was joined in the Final Chase by Steph as they were competing for an overall £9,000

The airline pilot put in a jaw-dropping performance in the last round as the team answered 18 questions correctly to build up 20 steps.

The Sinnerman was impressed by the showing as he gave Simon a standing ovation.

He said: "That's the best anybody has ever played against me in the Final Chase."

The Chaser proceeded to put in an incredible showing and built up 19 steps, but he ran out of time with just one second remaining.

The team left the show with £4,500 each, which Simon claimed he was going to spend his winnings on buying Lego for his wife.

Bradley Walsh lauded the fantastic performance and even asked whether Simon "wanted a job".

Simon responded "sure" before Bradley ended the show - and viewers took to Twitter to praise the contestant's fantastic showing.

Andy said: "Wow that was incredible by Simon in the final"

Saquib added: "They need to make Simon a chaser"

James posted: "Simon future chaser???"

Natasha commented: "Wow what a performance by Simon tonight"

Ciaran tweeted: "they might want to make him a chaser, unbelievable knowledge from that Simon lad"

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
