ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh mortified as Mark Labbett pulls him up on mistake

Bradley Walsh was mortified after he committed an error on today's episode of The Chase.

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new contestants on Thursday's edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Steve, Lloyd, Chris and Jackie were taking on Mark Labbett in a bid to win a cash prize.

The Beast was in impressive form as he nearly caught Steve, before he swiftly eliminated Lloyd.

Chris was up in seat three - and the 40-year-old military chef built up £4,000 in his cash-builder.

The player engaged in a tense head-to-head with Mark, but was knocked out after he committed a "cardinal sin" of quizzing.

Bradley asked: "What is the northernmost English county that the M6 motorway passes through?"

The options were Cumbria, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire - and Chris confidently selected the final option.

The presenter agreed with the choice - and was confused when the answer was revealed to be Cumbria.

Mark blasted the quizzer and the host as he accused them of not reading the full question properly since they both mistakenly opted for the county the M1 runs through, rather than the M6.

Bradley was mortified after The Beast alerted him to the gaffe.

He said: "I can't believe I did that.

"Easily done. Wow, I fell right into that trap."

Jackie in seat 4 managed to avoid the Beast so the team was competing in the Final Chase for an overall £11,000.

They built up 14 steps, but were caught with 34 seconds remaining - meaning they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
