ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh gobsmacked by Scouse player's 'slippery' family history

Bradley Walsh was taken aback by a Scouse player's family history on The Chase.

The 62-year-old presenter welcomed four new quizzers on Thursday's edition of the popular game show. Bennett, Amisha, Austin and Jane were taking on Paul Sinha in a bid to win a cash prize.

Bennett was in seat one and the aerospace engineer accumulated £1,000 in his cash builder. The 22-year-old proceeded to navigate his way past The Sinnerman to book his place in the Final Chase.

The Chaser fought back and proceeded to eliminate Amisha and Austin. Jane was in seat four and the HR consultant hailed from Liverpool.

The 59-year-old told Bradley she was "gobsmacked" as she recently uncovered her dramatic family history after becoming interested in genealogy. She said: "I found that my father had two other families that we didn't know anything about so I've got brothers and sisters in Runcorn and Southampton.

"My father died a long time ago so we can't ask him." Bradley hit back: "He's slippery your dad. Wow, that's extraordinary."

Jane also revealed her grandad imported alcohol to America during prohibition and ran a speakeasy in New York. The building is now a café in the Big Apple and she was hoping to use any winnings from today's show to fund a trip to New York.

Jane built up £4,000 in her cash-builder, but opted for the higher offer of £59,000. However, she was eliminated after Paul continued his dominant display in the head-to-head.

Bennett built up seven steps in the Final Chase, but was caught by The Sinnerman with 1 minute and 20 seconds remaining.
