ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh floored by "jammiest" ever contestant

Bradley Walsh was left in disbelief after a contestant's performance on today's show.

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new players on to Tuesday's edition of the popular game show.

Ross, Amanda, Serena and Karl were the latest quizzers to test their wits against Mark Labbett in a bid to win a cash prize.

Ross and Amanda were the first players up and successfully navigated their way past The Beast to bring £12,000 back to the Final Chase.

Serena was in seat 3 - and the 27-year-old from Gloucester was visibly disheartened when The Beast was unveiled as The Chaser during today's programme.

The advertising agent put in a shaky cash-builder performance to earn £2,000 - which left viewers concerned she was going to be easily caught by Mark Labbett.

However, Serena defied expectations and managed to avoid The Beast to win her place in the final round.

Bradley Walsh was floored by her performance and described it as the "jammiest head-to-head" he's ever seen after she successfully guessed the correct meaning of defenestration in the final round.

The host then jokingly asked Serena to rub his arm to give him some good luck - and viewers on Twitter were similarly stunned that Serena got to the final round.

Andi said: "That is unbelievable. Must have been born lucky."

Natalie added: "I don't know how she managed that."

Andy commented: "Can beat a good player, but not a lucky one."

Steve joked: "Well, cover Serena in Hartleys and call her jammy."

Daniel laughed: "HAHA nah how has she just got through there?"

Karl also managed to avoid The Beast to book his place in the final - meaning a full team were competing for £20,000.

The quizzers built up an impressive 22 steps, but they were caught by The Beast with 10 seconds remaining.

*The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITVHub
